On the 9th, the Freshwater Fish Research Center of the Gyeongsangbuk-do Fisheries Research Institute released 90,000 marsh snails (young marsh snails) in Dongcheon, Toguri, Cheonggi-myeon, Yeongyang-gun.
The marsh snails released to Yeongyang-gun are healthy chipae produced by the Freshwater Fish Research Center in 2022 and were carried out to enhance the fishery resources of Naesu-myeon and restore the aquatic ecosystem.
Marsh snails hide in rocks or sand in rivers and grow on organic matter and water plants at the bottom, playing an important role in the inland food chain, and are known to help improve water quality and restore ecosystems.
However, as the population of marsh snails has recently decreased due to reckless overfishing and habitats due to environmental pollution such as domestic sewage and pesticides have disappeared, the ecological environment of inland water is gradually deteriorating.
Yeongyang-gun released 20,000 willows, 10,000 carp, 10,000 carp, a total of 40,000 carp, and 20,000 dongjagae in October twice with the support of Gyeongsangbuk-do to increase fishery resources.
Ahn Hae-deuk, chairman of the Cheonggi Golburi Festival Promotion Committee, who attended the discharge event, said, "This is the case.Seulgi said, "As the food for the larvae of fireflies representing clean nutrition, the festival to be held next year is expected to be richer and have more things to enjoy through this release."
Park Hong-yeol, a provincial member of the Gyeongsangbuk-do Council's Agricultural and Fishery Committee, said, "We will make efforts to promote the discharge project through close consultation with Gyeongsangbuk-do for the continuous discharge of domestic fish resources."
